Test Feeds
From Akregator
Add URLs of test feeds here, if possible with a short description about what's special about them and what doesn't work in Akregator (except categories, enclosures and other well-known missing features). Examples for good test feeds:
- the feed has problems with character encoding (special characters or your non-latin script are not displayed correctly), linebreaks or whitespace.
- the feed isn't rendered correctly in Akregator but http://feedvalidator.org/ doesn't report errors.
- the feed isn't rendered correctly in Akregator, http://feedvalidator.org/ reports errors, but the problem exists for a lot of feeds (e.g. because some widely used generator messes it up).
- The feed uses some RSS or Atom extension that you find important enough to be supported in coming Akregator versions.
URLs
- http://packages.gentoo.org/feed/verbump - Tags in the feed header should be stripped
- http://alfonsoycia.blogspot.com/atom.xml - Atom Fedd for spanish blog hosted by Blogger (old version still) with multimedia addings (Del.icio.us, Flickr, YouTube, illustrated posts, etc)
- http://www.gucci.com/gucciginza/index.xml - like the feed directly below this, not seeing the description fields. Also, note that this also uses Japanese characters.
- http://blog.linux.it/rss.php?blogId=2&profile=rss20 (this feed is valid but is "blank" in akregator)
- http://scott2096.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default & http://googleearthlings.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default (Blogger Beta atom feeds don't render correctly - currently using Akregator 1.1.3)
- http://sunandshield.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default (another Blogger beta feed; Google seems to periodically/randomly republish old posts and in Akregator 1.2.4 they show up as duplicates even though the old post is still archived; *Update* In some cases this may be due to posts having "labels" or "tags" added; see http://sunandshield.blogspot.com/2006/11/announcement-labels-finished.html; but I've also seen it with other Blogger blogs)
- http://www.mozilla.org/news.rdf (some items are not displayed in Akregator 1.2.2 at all, e. g. "Firefox 2 Release Candidate 3 Released") Frank: That's because multiple items have the same URI => feed must get fixed. Anonymous: Is the fact that they are having non-unique URIs really against specification? Frank: Yes, if you use a "proper" RDF parser, there is no way to work around this problem (unless you want to apply ugly preprocessing before parsing)
- http://www.whatsup.org.il/backend.php (feed valid, but RTL, and there is no way to tell Akregator -- so it relies on standard Unicode guesses, which mess things up every time a title or description begins with an English letter. While at it, RTL titles should be right-aligned, both in the item display and item list).
- http://fedoraproject.org/people/ did give me a segfault, seems the entry for http://jkeating.livejournal.com/32641.html gives a html page with an outage info instead of the wanted data.
- http://blog.fefe.de/rss.xml has crashed akregator several times.
- http://www.ndr.de/podcastlink/echo_des_tages.xml does not show podcast.
- http://planet.seattlewireless.net/rss20.xml does not show in akregator; validator complains about guid markup and encoding.
- http://www.ndr.de/podcastlink/extra3_videopodcast.xml doesn't show link to media file; Liferea (http://liferea.sourceforge.net/) renders it correctly
- http://simplydark.cowblog.fr/articles.xml transparent pictures-based blog feed that has a variant font color. For it to be readable, Akregator should allow the user to have a dark background on a per-feed preference.
- http://feeds.feedburner.com/microbeworld - They don't supply a "direct download" link to their audio files, but there is an "enclosure" - which is in the .mk4 file in Akregator's archive but is not accessible from the program itself.
- The Fedora Weekly News feed validates with only warnings, but items are duplicated when checking through Akregator.
- http://www2.rozhlas.cz/podcast/cro6.rss does not show any link to the media contained in feed, feed passes the validation
- http://japanization.ru/engine/rss.php doesn't show any messages in feed (no error messages)
- http://www.fontanka.ru/fontanka.rss doesn't show any messages in feed (no error messages)
- http://www.lighttpd.net/feed/atom.xml sometimes doesn't show anything at all, sometimes the feed-list gets populated, but only a time is listed and the feeds remain empty.
- http://www.kde.org/dotkdeorg.rdf Akregator does not show article summary, just gives a "Complete story" link.
- http://http//feedvalidator.org/check.cgi?url=http%3A//www.kde.org/dotkdeorg.rdf says it "is a valid RSS feed", but 'Feeds should not be served with the "text/rdf" media type '.
